About Me

I've been exploring the world of ones and zeros for more than 30 years.
Born and raised in the Montreal area, I speak French and English on a daily basis.

Over the years, I had the chance to work with really smart people that shared their passions for computers. Now I try to give back and share my experiences with others. I love exchanging with tech geeks, and I am addicted to learning. I try to challenge myself as much as possible with various tech projects out of my comfort zone.

I can be setting up raspberry pis (as web servers/nas/vpn/monitoring devices/eCommerce platforms;OScommerce, Magento, shopify) to creating Android VR app using the Unreal Engine.

When the R-Pis are not enough, I use one of the major cloud provider (MS Azure, Amazon AWS or Google cloud platform) to do the job. As a part time web developer, I try keep up with the different technology and I try to play with different technology and stacks; (Angular/React,LAMP/LEMP, MEAN/MERN, Meteor coming soon !)
I have been around computers for a while, and I saw computers without hard drives, 2400 bps modems, EMM386, GORRILA.BAS, VAX VMS and Novell Netware. I saw the things that shaped today's computers.

Proud father of two boys, I spend a lot of time teaching them about life and computers (GCompris, a great educational software for 2 to 10 years old, check it out!). Like me, my boys are very curious, and like to know how everything works.

Today, I use my experience to improve processes between systems, companies and people.
I develop feature-rich applications and functionalities than can be reused by others.
My great analytical skills, technical knowledges and innovative ideas are a key factor in the successful projects I accomplished over the years.

:( webMethods developer / team lead

:( March 2010 - January 2017

I started working on webMethods as integration specialist when Peerless decided to add an ESB to their set of tools. I was part of the team that selected, installed and customized the Enterprise Service Bus. I was responsible for the design & development of all integration projects involving internal and external systems. I lead consultants and developers (3-4) in the multiple projects through the enterprise. I administered and I was also responsible for the support (24/7) of all the interfaces at Peerless Clothing.

Webmethods

  • Created reliable point-to-point interfaces between SAP, PKMS (WMS), Manhattan WMOS, Databases and legacy systems) to replace/enhance communication within various systems.
  • Designed & released the first semi-public API to allow vendors to automate their business process with our system, safely.
  • Designed event-based standards implemented in multiple systems to enhance system reliability in case of system/network problems.
  • Performed a product upgrade (from 8.2 to 9.8) using a third party load balancer(haproxy) to allow step by step upgrade with minimal risks.
  • Designed & implemented integrations of a goods on hanger (GOH) sorter with SDI Industries, that allowed Peerless to sort garments approx. 5x faster than before.
  • Integration of small parcels carrier’s API to allow automatic rate shop, address validation, shipment confirmation/void & label generation/printing (UPS,FEDEX, etc.)
  • Migrated multiple EDI documents from Gentran to Webmethods, allowing faster integration, and easier document search.
  • I built an inventory validation tool integrated with Macy’s and Kohl’s website.
  • Successfully integrated with Twilio for proof of concept ‘text to speech’ paging application.
  • Setup multiple Slack integration to execute internal web service (through google app script)
  • As a team lead, I designed specs and development standards for webmethods developers. I trained resources on the products and on SOA concepts. I created and maintained easy to follow documentations explaining the processes and the interactions between systems.
